The Equitable Building Fire

January 9, 1912 . Five alarms and a Borough Call. Numerous heroic rescues, millions of dollars in damage and six lives lost, including Battalion Chief Walsh. The square block, interconnected composite structure (actually made up of several buildings) proved to be one of the most difficult and dangerous fires the FDNY has ever faced.
